An ONLINE CONTEST is a solution to the restrictions and the ban on large gatherings.
We had one goal in mind when creating SLIDE’N ROCK; to create a fun and energetic annual event that showcases Boardsports and Rock music. The two-day event takes place each year in early July in Canet en Roussillon, just 12 km east of Perpignan, in the Pyrenees-Orientales. With its large beach and a famous spot for wind and waves it is an ideal location for a world class board sport contest.
The SLIDE’N ROCK takes place at the Theater de la Mer in Canet en Roussillon, located on the beach.
We are transforming this space into a Boardriding zone, Sliding Village, and Concert Zone, by installing bleachers, board displays, flags of different partner brands, kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing shops, and a stage with a giant screen for Rock Festival concerts. Every day, demonstrations, initiations, and several competitions are organized using a combat format, which makes it more interesting for the runners and the public.
The competition was split into multiple rounds (about 20 minutes each), with a DJ playing great sound, while an announcer keeps the crowd and the riders excited.
In addition, there are usually cash and trophy prizes to be awarded to the winners.
Sadly, Mother Nature threw a curve ball at us this year in the form of the global coronavirus pandemic. Due to the flight and travel restrictions imposed, candidates will not be able to arrive here, and the French government has also closed all large gatherings. For these reasons, we had to cancel this year’s SLIDE’N ROCK contest.
